Gloucester Street Community Centre is a non-profit voluntary organisation which was founded by Gloucester Street Church in 1987. Located in one of the most deprived areas of Wolverhampton, the organisation aims to address the varying social issues and needs that come with such a community. The organisation caters for all ages via an OFSTED registered After School Club and Holiday Scheme, a Youth Club, a Learning Centre, Senior Citizens Club and a Luncheon Club.

Gloucester Street After School Club & Holiday Scheme
Our After School Club provides a daily School pick-up service form various local schools within the area including; Oxley, St. Andrews, Christchurch and St. Michael’s. The After School Club runs from 3pm to 6pm. Our Holiday Scheme provides a service during every School Holiday and half-term breaks. The Holiday Scheme runs from 8am to 6pm, Mondays to Fridays.

Gloucester Street Senior Citizen’s Club
Members of this Club take part in a wide range of activities including Exercise Classes, Sewing Club, Day Trips, Dominoes and Movie Club. Run alongside it is the popular Luncheon Club which sells Caribbean Cuisine to the community.

Gloucester Street Youth Club
Every Monday & Wednesday night, young people from across the neighbourhood access various activities, including; basketball, netball, streetdance & volleyball. The young people also take regular trips and outings—as well as a residential in the Summer Holidays. From 2011, the Youth Club has been offering additional inclusive activities & welcoming young people, with disabilities, on the last Wednesday of each month.

Gloucester Street Community Centre is also a registered Learning Centre offering a variety of courses throughout the year.

Volunteer Work
We also encourage volunteering via our Volunteering Project in areas such as:

  • Youth Work
  • Senior Citizens Support
  • Catering

Our recent European Partnerships via the Youth in Action Programme, has also resulted in volunteers travelling to Europe.

As a non-profit, Voluntary Organisation, Gloucester Street Community Centre has always relied on the willingness of volunteers to volunteer their time.  Volunteers from all walks of life, including professionals, teachers and musicians have played an integral part in ensuring the continued success of the Community Centre. We welcome all types of volunteers to work in various areas.
